The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Council is made up of representatives from the PTA's of each of the schools in the system. The Council serves as a coordinating and resource agent for individual PTA's and meets one a month division-wide. The purpose of the building-level PTA is to coordinate the efforts of the parents and teachers in providing the students with the best environment and stimuli for their development. The PTA plays an active role in many school functions. The PTA has fund raising projects each year and they contribute to many activities during the school year. One of the most innovative is the TMS teacher mini-grant program. Teachers/teams may submit requests to the PTA for money to fund special projects for students. The PTA also publishes a monthly newsletter for parents and teachers are asked to encourage students to deliver the newsletters to their parents each month. Toano’s PTA promises to be innovative and creative but above all- supportive. It needs the support of the faculty and staff and your membership is strongly encouraged. Membership is only $5.00 and your contribution is greatly needed.
