Every spring between 35 and 50 juniors are inducted into the National Honor Society. This fall, six seniors joined these individuals to finalize NHS’s senior members.
On Thursday, Dec. 10, in the Jamestown lecture hall Seth Berl, Bruce Cordelli, Lauren Gough, Kris Peck, Madeline Vaiden and Daniel Zoellner joined the 49 members inducted last spring.
“I feel really happy because I feel like all my hard work has finally paid off,” senior Kris Peck said.
Applicants must meet high standards in scholarship, character, leadership and service. Students must also submit a packet of information that outlines accomplishments since their freshman year.
Once inducted, members are required to participate in numerous community service activities, including four highway trash pick-ups, fundraisers for St. Judes, coat drives and Dreamcatchers fundraisers.
“The students are required to maintain the same standards as before they were inducted,” NHS sponsor Doug Meredith said. “That means they have to maintain a 3.5 GPA or above and they have to sustain the four NHS pillars.”
