| I am delighted to serve as principal of this historic school. The students, staff, parents and volunteers who fill our halls each day make Matthew Whaley a special place to work. Situated next to the Governor’s Palace gardens, I am reminded everyday of its historical significance in the Williamsburg community. I am very proud to work with our dedicated faculty and staff. It is our belief that high expectations, hard work and perseverance are the keys to student success and it is our responsibility to find the key that unlocks learning for every child. Our staff is dedicated and caring, and our community is very supportive. In addition to our experienced teachers, we have trained instructional assistants who focus on individual and small group needs. Parent and community volunteers also play an active role in our school. We are very grateful for our supportive PTA and the service our parents, community and W&M volunteers provide. Together we work to ensure that each student has what they need to have a productive and enjoyable school year. Virginia Board of Excellence Award for 2010 |
