Lafayette School of Practical Nursing,  was established in 1973 by WJC school division to provide an opportunity for local citizens to learn a lifetime career. The instructors are skilled clinicians who specialize in providing individualized instruction for students with various educational backgrounds

Mission

The mission of the Lafayette School of Practical Nursing, Health and Medical Science Program is to graduate entry level Practical Nurses who will assist individuals and families to achieve optimum health. Instructors foster the delivery of quality nursing care and continuing education.

Intro High School / Exploratory Course
The purpose of this course is to allow students to explore potential occupations within the health and medical science area and to provide a basic knowledge of medical terminology and health care information.  Career exploration includes job descriptions, educational requirements, personal qualifications, licensing requirements, wages, and work environment.   Health care information includes anatomy, physiology, patient care skills, medical documentation, and legal and ethical issues. Contact your Counselor or see one of the instructors in the Nursing Program.
Program Description
  • 18 month high school pre-licensing program - high school seniors and adults may qualify
  • Approved by the Virginia Department of Education and the Board of Nursing
