Teachers engage their students in learning as they introduce the first Unit of Inquiry of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. The units of inquiry are concept-based units that integrate the science, social studies and language arts Standards of Learning. Students build on their existing knowledge in order to make relevant and meaningful connections to new material. Students take action by doing something as a result of their learning.
The following universal concepts are being explored in depth during the first six weeks of school to be followed by five additional units of inquiry throughout the year:
Kindergarten
