Registering Students in WJC Public Schools
The procedure for registering students in one of our schools is as follows. You must report to the school in your attendance zone in person prior to the anticipated start date and provide the school officials with background information (below), and at the same time fill out the proper forms and answer some questions about the schooling history. You may determine the school location based upon the new address in our School Division by calling the transportation department at 757-259-7181. You may also visit James City County's website to determine that information.
Parents should bring:
- Proof of residency (a utility bill, copy of a lease, purchase agreement, etc.)
- Certified copy of birth certificate
- Written evidence of adequate immunizations as required by the state board of health (check out the Virginia Department of Education website)
- Written evidence of a medical/physical examination performed no earlier than 12 months prior to enrollment.
- Any and all prior schooling records from the time your child entered school till now.
- Social Security Number
We also suggest that you determine your child’s school location and contact the head of guidance for more specific information.
Be sure to determine which school services your new address…you may not choose one at random.
