The staff development program of WJCC Schools is coordinated to provide both building and division level opportunities for teachers to improve their skills and expertise. Each school has a Staff Development Team which analyzes test data and other pertinent information to determine the staff development needs for the school. Workshops which address identified needs are held throughout the year on staff development days, at faculty meetings, at team meetings, and at before and after school sessions.
Division level staff development offerings include graduate courses and workshops that are planned to meet needs identified through division data analysis and building input. A comprehensive selection of technology workshops is currently being offered to assist teachers in meeting the state required technology standards. In addition, Connections, a course required for all teachers with no previous teaching experience, is designed to help new teachers be effective in the classroom. Through the Teacher Mentor Program, every teacher new to WJCC Schools is supported with a mentor to assist during the teacher's first year in our schools. Additional information about division level staff development is available on the WJC Staff Development homepage.
