Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED® preparatory classes are offered to adults who have not earned high school diplomas.  Day and evening classes are offered at the Educational Center at James Blair (annex) at 117 Ironbound Rd. and at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.   Classes are open enrollment and students can begin classes at any time during the year.  The classes are free of charge.

English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes are offered to adults who are not native speakers of English. These classes help the learners improve their skills in reading, writing and speaking English. Learners may enroll at any time during the year. The classes are free of charge.

The GED® exam is administered in Williamsburg every month.   Applicants must be 18 years of age and not enrolled in public school. The exam fee is $58.00 for the entire test for first-time takers and $10 for each test that needs to be retaken. Register at the Educational Center at James Blair, 117 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA  23185, up to one week prior to the exam date.
