LHS Students Who Achieve Greatness (SWAG) Team Urges Fellow Students To Plan Ahead
Lafayette High School’s Students Who Achieve Greatness initiative, also known as SWAG, recently performed in an assembly for Lafayette juniors and seniors about the importance of having a plan for life after high school.SWAG was created by LHS graduate Bryan Cowles when he was student, joined by three others. Cowles now attends Virginia Commonwealth University; Vernon Dennis attends Old Dominion University; Shelby Tillis attends Thomas Nelson Community College, and Amber Hundley is at Norfolk State University. SWAG was designed to enlighten students on the importance of a post-secondary education. Cowles felt it was important to present the point of view of a college freshman in the seminar. The SWAGteam and students were able to ask questions about college life and academic requirements. Many students indicated that they enjoyed the SWAG seminar and found it beneficial.
