USDA Official Tours Warhill Food Service Operation, Learns About SHIP Initiative
Dr. Janey Thornton, Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), stopped by Warhill High School Tuesday to inspect Warhill’s state-of-the-art food preparation system and to learn more about the Student Health Initiative Program (SHIP), which works in tandem with WJCC Child Nutrition Services to ensure that students are getting healthy food options. SHIP is funded by the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation. On hand for the visit were WJCC Superintendent Dr. Steve Constantino, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Dr. Scott Burckbuchler; Senior Director for Operations Marcellus Snipes; WJCC Supervisor of Child Nutrition Jane Haley; Williamsburg Community Health Foundation President and CEO Jeanne Zeidler, and Pam Dannon, WJCC Registered Dietitian.
