Matthew Whaley First Graders Make Bird Feeders In Mattey’s Garden
Mattey’s Garden at Matthew Whaley Elementary School was a busy place recently when first graders, along with help from Genrose Lashinger and other Master Gardeners, parents and teachers, made pine cone bird feeders to give to the birds this holiday season. The students smeared peanut butter (or an alternative for those with peanut allergies) on pine cones and then rolled them in bird seed. It was a messy job, but those who participated were certain the birds appreciated it!
