Berkeley School Profile

Berkeley Middle School is one of 3 middle schools in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools system. Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, our division is currently comprised of 15 schools. Unique in Virginia, our joint division serves the city of Williamsburg and James City County

Berkeley has had many changes since it was built. Berkeley started as a high school in 1965. It became a junior high in 1968, then an elementary school, and then it became a middle school. To accommodate the increasing student population, Berkeley has undergone major renovations of the old building and construction of three new additional buildings. Today the school is a beautiful sprawling structure made up of four interconnected buildings. Each grade level has its own pod. The new library is modern and is equipped with multiple desktop computers where students can do research on the Internet. It has a new media retrieval system.
