Robotics Team Takes “Top Rookie” Honors At World Robotics Competition
Team Opportunity returned from FIRST Robotics Challenge World Championships held in St. Louis, MO, with another rookie title. Approximately 400 of the best teams from over a dozen countries competed for the world title this past week at the Edwards Jones Dome. The team of WJCC high school students earned a trophy for placing as the highest seeded rookies during qualifying matches. Team Opportunity’s qualifying position on the Galileo Field ranks them as highest seeded rookie team in the world. Team members, ranging from grades 9 through 12, are: Destiny Toler, Eric Chai, Shaquille Hayes, Justin Bradley, Donald Gray (of LHS), Billy Walters, Reece Bartlett, Zech Farley, Markisha “D.J.” Jones, and Erika McLaughlin.
